Jingei, part two: Results

ellengrover's picture

If anyone remembers my last post on Jingei revelations and distal point treatments, I promised to report on results in the next... and I have lived to tell.

I'll just pretend I remember what the patients said, verbatim:

"Whatever you did for my neck last time really worked...keep it up!"

"The toe that got crushed by a wheelchair lift is still bothering me, but all the back and hip pain that had accompanied it is practically gone."

"What shoulder pain? I have no idea what you're talking about."

And, my favorite: "I'm pregnant!"

My previous ambivalence about what I thought might be a more effective local treatment has flown out the window, and with it, lots of other stuff, like side muscle cramps from twisting too often to needle GB20 in the recliner.

No, this post is not just a plug for the forthcoming WCA Jingei video. But for those of you who haven't had the good fortune to see Skip's lecture in person, consider it a friendly reminder about all of the gut-wrenching thought and side-bending needling you will avoid - not to mention the time you will save, eventually, by watching that video and incorporating its lessons into your practice.

OK, this is sounding a lot like a plug, but who cares?
Your patients will thank you.

Re: Jingei, part two: Results

I think there's a different video about to be released - you can inquire at info@workingclassacupuncture.org - unless Lupine sees this thread first and sets the record straight.

Re: Jingei, part two: Results

It's 4 DVDs in a set available from Sandy Laurel River who lives in Maine. Search ME under the member directory for her contact information.

Re: Jingei, part two: Results

Re: Jingei, part two: Results

After I saw the DVDs from the WCA Maine training, I went back to Jingei based treatments (tx). I had gotten very fond of Dr. Tan's 8 point txs, especially Jue Yin Shao Yang, the 8 Magic for digestion and respiratory and Shao Yin Tai Yang. 2/3 of the people I had on Tan tx prefer the Jingei based tx.

I got comments like, "This was much deeper." "I just felt more." "I stayed much more calm." "I haven't had a cold in three months and I usually have one every month." "This is working better."

As Lisa mentioned in the DVD, I often use Dr. Tan's pain points from his books and his notion of the circuit or one arm use yin meridians, the other arm use yang meridians. The leg opposite the yin arm gets yin meridian needling and the leg opposite the yang arm, needle yang meridians.
