Holiday gift to patients
My post-meditation brainstorm (Thank you!) for a holiday gift is working so well, I thought I'd share it with you all. I went to Ranch 99 store and found these really nice plastic Chinese soup spoons for $.39@, bought a BUNCH of them. Went home and quickly ran off little slips of paper with these instructions (attached) and began presenting them on Monday. I didn't have time to wrap them at all, just put them into a basket lined with gold paper, with a green ribbon tied around the basket handle. Some of the patients had heard me lecture on gua sha and cold prevention, some had had it done on them (by me) just the week before. I told them I didn't want to see them anymore for this condition because we had more important work to do with the needles, so I was giving them the responsibility of staying well during Cold season. They all really, really liked this. I'd been lecturing them about this for ages, but until I put that spoon into their hands, they didn't get it (kinesthetic teaching). What's great is that the gift cost so little, but can do so much for each person, at the same time pulling them into principles of Chinese Medicine.

Re: Holiday gift to patients
I have had classmates do it very aggressively. Some people love this. I taught my patients to do it gently, and it still works. One of my patients used it that night on her son, and found that it worked. Now she wants to go get more spoons and copy my message so she can gift all her family with this.
Re: Holiday gift to patients
I remembered learning this technique in school, but was never brave enough to try it very much on patients. My wife (from Taiwan) has done it to me and it seems like a pretty rough technique. I don't usually care for it, but I sense that it is quite effective at raising the Wei Qi. That's great that your patients are into it Lumiel.

Hi Lumiel
What a great idea! I love it. Unfortunately, I cannot access the attachment - am I missing something?
